My Practice

“With realisation of one’s own potential and self confidence in one’s ability, one can build a better world.”
Dalai Lama XIV

I am an integrative Counsellor with Person Centred Theory (PCT) at the core of my work. Alongside PCT I also work using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Transactional Analysis (TA), Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and am conversant with Gestalt, Inner Child Work and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). I have different techniques to offer regarding relaxation exercises, including visualisation and Breathing Techniques to help you with high anxiety levels. My therapies include:

  • Person Centred Therapy (PCT)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET)
  • Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)
  • Behavioural Couples Therapy (BCT)
  • Mindfulness

I also work with relaxation and breathing techniques to assist with anxiety, stress and panic disorders.

Providing Individual time for you to address low self-esteem, anxiety, stress and any concerns around addictive behaviours and relationship difficulties that may have become problematic.   Bereavement or loss and Trauma can become overwhelming and difficult to deal with. Meaning making, decisions and moving on.

Person Centred Therapy works alongside the client providing them time to explore their personal thoughts and feelings.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy works collaboratively with the client whilst they consider and explore their own negative thoughts, feelings/emotions and behaviour patterns working with Generalised anxiety disorder and Depression and work related stress.

During the free initial telephone consultation we will be able to discuss and safely explore together any worries and concerns that you may have, this will give you time to ask any questions about counselling and what it means to you.

Often people choose to come and receive Counselling because for them the time to work through unresolved difficulties and problems is right.

It might be that you have now chosen to visit a Counsellor as you desire to achieve a sense of relief and understanding about the thoughts, feelings/emotions or behaviours you experience whilst seeking to find a way forward that works for you.

Counselling can empower you.

I will always seek to work with you in ascertaining which Therapy would work best for your particular needs.

I have worked with a range of Addictions and Substance Misuse at Turning Point and Somerset Drug and Alcohol Service (SDAS) Yeovil. And also South Somerset MIND. I run a private Counselling practice which has covered a vast array of subject areas. I have a Degree in Integrative Counselling. I am continually updating my personal development to ensure I am fully aware of any changes in current protocols. This ensures best practice when working safely and professionally with any client at any given time.

A crucial part of a client feeling safe and comfortable is where the Therapeutic Relationship is held.

To ensure I can devote the time and energy to you in a calm and very private environment, I will discuss with you where would be preferable to meet as it is important to your work that there are no distractions.

I have a safe and confidential consulting room at Brighten Wellbeing and Life Coaching, in Stoford, and Minster Pharmacy and Health Foods in Ilminster available at your request, however, I am also able to offer virtual sessions via Zoom, Whatsapp or phone.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) this means I adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. For further information please visit

My working hours are from 8.00am to 5.00pm Tuesday to Thursday, and 9.00am to 4.00pm on Mondays. I also offer virtual sessions on Fridays from 8.00am to 7.00pm and Saturday mornings from 8.00am to noon.  I am aware that working hours for some people make it impossible to meet during the day and so evening sessions are also available if required.
